What's the difference between public and private bets?
Private bets are invite-only via link. Public bets are visible to everyone in the Poll feed.
A private bet is intended for the people who receive its unique link.
It does not appear in the public bet feed, which makes it the usual choice for a group chat, a workplace pool, or a question involving people you know.
Anyone you send the link to may still be able to pass it on, so treat the link as an invitation rather than as a password. A public bet can appear in Poll's public browsing surfaces and may be opened by people outside your group.
Public is useful when the question makes sense without private context and you are comfortable with a wider audience seeing the wording and joining.
Before publishing, avoid names or details that should stay inside your group.
Visibility affects discovery, not the settlement rules.
In both cases, participants should review the question, deadline, sides, and resolution method before placing a wager.
Choose private if you are unsure whether the wording belongs in a public feed.
